If you'd signed up for Tech Lockdown prior to May 13th, 2024, then it's possible you're using the older version of the platform.
We strongly suggest migrating to the newer version as soon as possible. We're continuing to support the older platform, but new features are exclusive to the newer one.
New Features Available
Right now, the newer platform offers substantially more features when compared with the older one:
- Better support for iPhone devices that doesn't require device management. Standard iPhones can be connected to the newer Content Policy without required a full reset.
- Support for IPv6 networks. The older version will not work if connected to an IPv6 network, while the newer version natively supports it.
- Rule scheduling. The older version of the platform only has the ability to either fully enable or disable content categories and domains. Upgrade for scheduled rules.
- Improved Profile Locking for Self-Management. Improved Profile Locking for Self-Management. We've added multiple ways to lock your profile for improved customization.
- Wider Device Compatibility Overall. Devices can be connected manually if the newer VPN client is not available on that device.
- Access to the same capabilities as the older version. Features available on the older platform are also available on the newer platform, such as the ability to connect a router, enforce SafeSearch, or block specific websites.
When can I access the newer dashboard?
All members with an active subscription to the older version of Tech Lockdown automatically have access to the newer version. So long as your subscription is active, go to the Tech Lockdown login page and select the newer version.
Disconnect from the Older Version
If you're trying to migrate your filtering over to the newer version, follow these steps to ensure that there aren't any conflicts between the newer and older versions of the software.
Step 1) Uninstall the older DNS Agent software and disconnect your router
- Ensure the DNS Agent or DNSFilter Agent softwares are completely removed from your Mac and Windows device(s).
We've built a small set of Tools that can do this for you on Mac and Windows machines. Reach out to our support email for access.
- Uninstall the DNSFilter app from your smartphone devices.
For managed iPhones or Android smartphones with the DNS Filter app installed, uninstall the app through ManageEngine to remove filtering.
- Ensure your router's DNS settings are reverted back to their default values.
You will need to log into your router's access portal/admin panel. In most cases, you can either delete/clear the DNS server IPs used to connect to DNSFilter, or disable manual IP addresses. Instructions for logging into your router and it's model information should be found on the back panel on the physical router device.
Step 2) Verify that your devices are disconnected from the older filter
Ensure your device is no longer connected to the older version of the filter. Run a standard test on the dnsleaktest.com website.
After running a standard test on the website above, confirm that your ISP's servers. If you're still connected to DNS Filter, you'll probably see "dnsfilter.co" listed as the Hostname like this:
If you've the filtering application or software from your devices, double-check that filtering is correctly reset on your router.
Step 3) Continue with the New Platform setup
After you've confirmed the older version is completely removed, you can now proceed with the new filter.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I connect if my device is managed?
Yes! In fact, you can choose to remotely download the Cloudflare One app as opposed to downloading it from the App Store.
Can I reconnect my Router to the new platform?
Yes. If you had previously connected your Router to DNS Filter, it should also be compatible with the newer filter.
Can Use Dynamic DNS Hostname on the newer platform?
Unfortunately, DDNS (Dynamic DNS) Hostnames are not compatible with the newer version.
You could connect your Router using the unique IPv6 DNS address associated with your Tech Lockdown account instead. This will mean you will need to enable IPv6 on your router.
