We highly recommend using the installation wizard we provide in your Tech Lockdown account dashboard. It will walk you through the installation process.

By configuring the DNS settings on your router to point to your Content Policy, you can ensure that all devices on your home network have filtering enabled, even without installing an app.
In order to take advantage of this kind of filtering, you will need to
- Enter your router’s IP address in the dashboard.
- Change your router’s DNS servers to Cloudflare’s servers.
1) Create a Router in the Dashboard
Open the Tech Lockdown dashboard and go to Settings > Routers.
If your list is empty, click "Add a Router". You will be prompted to enter a name for the Router, and an IP address:
In most cases, you should be able to click / tap Fill Current IPv4 for a valid IP. If you get an error, we recommend this tool for more accurate results.
We recommend using our Device Setup Wizard for the best experience. Go to Device Setup > Router to view all required information.
You will be prompted to choose a Router you've added:
We recommend keeping the Setup Wizard open in one tab while you log into your home router using another tab. This will make the connection process much easier.
2) Login to Your Router
Next, you’ll need to log into your router.
Each router model might have slightly different instructions, but you should be able to find login details on the back label:
Next, you’ll need to navigate to your router’s login page. Each router model is different, but here are examples of some common brands:
- LinkSys: Go to http://192.168.1.1/ in your browser.
- Netgear: Go to either http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 in your browser.
- D-Link: Go to http://192.168.0.1/ in your browser.
The best source of information for logging into your router is through it's manufacturer's website. If you need help, check your device manufacturer's support page for more detailed steps.
3) Find DNS settings, and point them to the filter
The exact menu layout for each router might be different, so it might be helpful to search your router model online for instructions. You can often find the router model number and brand on the back label (same place you found instructions to log in).
As an example, we used a Netgear router.
Change your DNS servers from the default/automatic setting to manual. Depending on your ISP, you may have either IPv4 or IPv6 addresses that you will need to change.
IPv4 addresses should look like this:
Here's an example using IPv6 addresses:
Update the DNS servers on your Home Router to the one's found on the Router Installation wizard:
You can copy and paste the values listed on the Tech Lockdown dashboard.
Test Connection
Test your Devices' connection to your content filter.
