DNS settings on your smartphone can be configured to point to your Content Policy.
Step 1: Access DNS Information on the Dashboard
While you won't need to link your physical router to the dashboard to connect your smartphone, you will need to create an endpoint that your device can connect to. This is similar to how a router is connected.
If you haven't connected a router before:
- Go to Settings > Routers on the Tech Lockdown dashboard.
- Select Create a Router.
You will be required to enter your IP address. It should pre-fill automatically, but if there are issues, use an online tool like this one.
Once you have a Router added to the dashboard:
- Open the Router to see connection information.
Step 2: Set Up Your Smartphone
- On your Android device, open Settings and search for "Private DNS":
- Tap on Private DNS to pull up the customization menu.
- Choose Private DNS provider hostname.
Step 3: Enter DNS Information into your Smartphone
On the Tech Lockdown dashboard:
- View the DNS over TLS hostname listed by the Router. This should be found under Connection Information.
DoH and DoT hostnames should be found under Connection Information. You will only need to use the DNS over TLS for your Android smartphone.
On your Android device:
- Enter the DNS over TLS hostname from your Router.
- Tap Save.
