Connecting a Cloudflare Account to Tech Lockdown
To get started, go to your Tech Lockdown account dashboard and open the Cloudflare Connect Wizard.
The Cloudflare Connect wizard that we provide through your Tech Lockdown dashboard will walk you through this entire process in more detail. This tutorial can help you with supplementary information.
In general, here are the steps you will follow in the Cloudflare Connect wizard in your Tech Lockdown account dashboard:
Step 1: Sign Up for a Cloudflare Account
Register for a free Cloudflare account on the Cloudflare website. Click here to go to the Cloudflare Signup page.
Check your email and confirm your Cloudflare account. If you don't see the email, check your spam folder.
Step 2: Get you Cloudflare Global API Key
Go to the API tokens section in your profile and copy the Global API key.
Step 3: Generate Token
We will temporarily use your Global API key to generate a limited API key that the Tech Lockdown dashboard will use going forward. We do not store your Global API key, only the limited token we generate.
Multiple Accounts
In some rare cases, customers have a Cloudflare account that is connected to multiple Cloudflare accounts. In order to generate the token, you'll have to select the Cloudflare account that you want to associate with Tech Lockdown
Step 4: Enable Zero Trust
Enable the Zero Trust feature by creating a Team Name. This Team Name will be required if you want to connect a device using your email address.
Step 5: Test Connection
Run tests that ensure you properly set up your Cloudflare account and that Tech Lockdown can manage the Zero Trust feature properly.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does Tech Lockdown safeguard my API Key?
We initially use your Global API key so that we can generate a limited API token. Here is how we protect the key:
- We do not save your Global API key and have no way to access it after you close your browser.
- The API token we generate only grants us access to a few features within Cloudflare.
- We store an encrypted version of this API token in our database.
