If websites aren't being blocked as expected, check your device is connected and that Traffic logs are being collected.
Follow these troubleshooting steps:
- Verify Connection to Cloudflare's DNS: Ensure that your device's internet traffic is routing through Cloudflare. This is especially important if you connect your router instead of connecting other devices individually.
- Check your Traffic Logs and investigate whether the correct action is being taken by your Content Policy. You can view which rule is responsible for blocking the website from this page.
- Use Test Domains to test that a Category is being blocked as expected: We recommend using the Test Domains instead of trying to visit blocked websites. You can view a full list of relevant Test Domains on the Tech Lockdown dashboard by going to Content Policy > Test Connection.
- Ensure Block Pages are correctly enabled: Block pages display which rule is causing a website to be blocked, and need to be enabled manually on most devices.
- Verify your Content Policy Rules are configured correctly: Check that rules are organized as needed on your Content Policy to block content as expected.
It could take a few minutes for your Content Policy settings to update.
The best way to test if a website it blocked is to use an Incognito Mode tab on your browser and check if it's also blocked there. Close and re-open the incognito mode tab on your browser between tests.
Traffic Logs are the best way to view how your Content Policy is responding to activity. You can search for a specific website domain and see whether your Content Policy blocked or allowed the request.
