Install Cloudflare Certificates on Android

Follow these steps to download, install, and trust the Cloudflare certificate on Android.

Step 1) Download Certificate

There are two ways to download the certificate on your Android device:

  1. By opening the Tech Lockdown dashboard on a computer or another device
    1. Click the download button on the certificate and select the Android tab
    2. Using your Android phone's camera, scan the QR code. This will download the certificate on to your phone without having to login to the Tech Lockdown dashboard from your device.
  2. By opening the Tech Lockdown dashboard on your Android device
    1. Click the download button on the certificate and select the iPhone tab
    2. Tap the download button to download the certificate to your iPhone's file

Step 2) Install and Trust Certificate

  • Make sure that you save the Certificate file to your Android smartphone's storage.
  • Open Settings on your Android smartphone
  • Search for "Certificate" to display Certificate Settings. Where exactly in settings you'll need to navigate to will depend on your specific model of smartphone, but on most, it should be found under Security > Other security settings.

  • Look for an option to install the certificate from phone storage. Again, this could be called something different on other smartphone models.

  • Select the correct certificate file. In most cases, you'll see the date and time the file was downloaded, so choose the most recently downloaded certificate.

  • Follow the instructions to install the Certificate.
  • If you see the option to add a name for the Certificate, go ahead and fill in the name. It's a good idea to include the date you installed the Certificate in the name.

  • You can view currently installed certificates by finding the User Certificates (or comparable setting) from the Settings page.

  • You should see a list with your certificate (with the same name you gave it)

  • Confirm that block pages are working as expected. We strongly recommend using the Test Domains listed under Content Policy > Test Connection instead visiting blocked websites directly.
