If the Tech Lockdown config editor prompts you to upgrade the MacOS config, these are the instructions you'll need to follow.

Why the need for the upgrade?

As of MacOS 26.0, there are some config profile properties that must be installed at the system-level of the device instead of the user level.

The following properties are now required to be added at the system level:

• USB Restricted Mode
• System DNS Settings
• Disabling Mac guest accounts

If any of these properties are selected, and you attempt to install the config on MacOS 26.0+, you will see an error like this:

How to Upgrade the Config

• On your Mac, click the Apple icon in the top left of the screen and select System Settings:

• In the Settings app, search for Profile and navigate to Device Management. You should have a profile installed currently in the "User" section.

• Download the upgraded System config and install the profile:

• After installing it, you should see two profiles installed. One in the User row and the other in the Device row:

• Now you need to remove the old user profile so that only the device profile is persisted. To get started, download and install the "Uninstall" profile:

• The profile in the User row should say Uninstall in the name like this:

• Remove the User config

• Now you should only see the Device config installed:

• Make sure that you confirm the upgrade in the Dashboard so that you are able to access the Config Editor again
