Help moving from older Config Presets to the new Device Config Generator.
The Device Config Generator adds more features than our Config Presets and can enforce restrictions more effectively with Profile Locking.
Migrating a Supervised iPhone
1) Unlock your Tech Lockdown Profile
Uninstalling Config Files requires that your Tech Lockdown profile be unlocked.
- Ensure your Tech Lockdown profile is unlocked before proceeding.
2) Download and install removable versions of Config Presets and App Allowlist/Blocklists
While you can have many config files installed on your iPhone at the same time, we strongly recommend removing our older Config Presets that may unintentionally cause conflicts.
The new Config Generator does not enforce the Cloudflare One VPN in its current version, so you may choose to continue using the "Enforce Cloudflare VPN" and "Restrict New VPNs" Config Presets. Other Config Presets can be safely removed.
To remove Config Files installed with Tech Lockdown, you may need to first install the removable version of the Config File before removing them. It may help to have both your iPhone and another computer handy.
- On your iPhone, go to iPhone Settings > General > VPN & Device Mgmt. You should see a full list of all Config Files currently installed.
- To remove most Config Presets, go to Tools > iPhone > Config Presets on the dashboard. Scroll down to the Uninstall Allowed option, and ensure that it's toggled off.
3) Remove Config Presets
These steps will need to be done individually for each Config Preset:
- Re-download the Config Preset to your iPhone. In the example configuration above, these are the Configs that should be downloaded:
- On your iPhone with Settings open to General > VPN & Device Mgmt, tap on the Config Preset you're removing.
- You should see an option to Remove Profile. Select this to uninstall the Config Preset.
