Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need to unlock my profile?
If you're self-managing your own iPhone, then having the removable versions of the Config Files behind a lock adds an extra step in order to remove restrictions. It is still possible, but it will require significant time and effort compared to Screen Time or other restrictions.
Requiring you to unlock your profile to download the removable version makes it harder to uninstall Config Files easily.
What if I can't scan the QR Code?
In some cases, you might have enabled an App Allowlist that doesn't have camera or web browser enabled. If that's the case, you still have other ways to download the profile onto your iPhone or iPad:
- Download the Config File on your Mac, then use Airdrop to download the file to your iPhone.
- Email or Text yourself the Config File.

How can I further prevent myself from undoing my own restrictions?
If you're self-managing, it's important to know how to properly lock access to online accounts, without completely removing the ability to make changes later.
