Uninstalling a Device Config requires access to the Tech Lockdown dashboard. If you've taken the proper steps to protect your Device Config, your Tech Lockdown profile will need to be unlocked to remove your protected Config File.
Step 1: Ensure your Tech Lockdown Profile is Unlocked
The Device Config Generator may not allow you to access uninstall instructions while your profile is locked.
Step 2: View Device Config in System Settings
- Open System Settings on your Mac, and navigate to General > Device Management. You can also search for "profile":
You should see a full list of the currently installed Config Files. Proceed to the next step to remove them.
Step 3: Remove Device Config
- Click on the Config File you'd like to remove.
You should see it highlighted like this:
- Press the Delete key on your Mac. You could instead click the Minus symbol near the bottom:
- Confirm that you'd like to delete the Config by clicking Remove:
If you've enabled the Uninstall Prevention feature when you first downloaded the Config from Tech Lockdown, you'll now need to copy-paste the removal password from the dashboard.
If you need to enter a passcode, you'll see a message like this:
Step 4: Enter Device Config Removal Passcode
If your Device Config has been protected when you first installed it, you may need to access the removal passcode on the dashboard.
If you've set your own passcode to protect a Device Config, you'll need to enter that passcode to remove the config.
Go to Device Config > macOS > Uninstall to access uninstall instructions.
